We’re interested in what lingers from the past.

nostalgia. cultural leftovers. forgotten places. abandoned futures. outdated thoughts. misty dreams. childhood echoes. liminal spaces. ghosts (literal or metaphorical). decay and continuity coexisting. things that refuse to disappear.

ask yourself:

  • What still lives inside you? what has died?

  • What deserves resurrection?

  • What needs to be buried?

  • What is outdated — but still beautiful?

don’t romanticize the past —
examine it, haunt it, Reclaim it, transform it.

We want:

Collage • Writing • Poetry/prose • Photography • sketches • Paintings • Film • music • Scripts • Experimental work • short writings/papers • Hybrid work

■ need to know:

  • Work must be original or properly credited — no AI.

  • BBB reserves the right to decline work that does not align with the theme or tone.

  • Submissions may be lightly formatted for layout cohesion (unless otherwise specified).

  • Hate speech, plagiarism, or exploitative content will not be accepted.

  • Contributors retain ownership of their work.

  • digital publication will be hosted here on the website (subscribe to the newsletter, and you’ll get it emailed as well!)

  • we plan on printing the magazine, and we will reach out to artists for first dibs on purchasing copies.

Formatting will be cohesive across the issue,
but individual artistic integrity will be respected.

Formatting changes means/can include:

  • We will not be changing any artistic elements of the piece.

  • adjusting the size of the piece

  • minor grammar edits, if needed

  • formatting to page spreads

  • etc (other reasonable minor edits that don’t change the integrity of your piece)

Are you interested in your piece being Collaborative/added onto?

By “collaborative,” we mean another artist on our team may add to your work (e.g., adding drawings or graphics to a poem). If yes, you’re allowing artistic additions to your work. You may include any stipulations about what you’re comfortable with.

We may or may not share the final version with you.

Saying yes with no stipulations gives the BBB team full creative freedom to enhance your piece while maintaining its integrity.

Collaborative pieces have an earlier due date to allow time for artistic additions.

if you do not wish for your art to be adjusted in any way, shape or form, please note that in your submission, and ensure that your art fits the digital submission guidelines.
